Opening the lines of communication between teachers and parents.
I believe communication is the number one factor in building strong and healthy relationships with families and students. When students know that parents and teachers are working together for the common cause of student success, they are more likely to reach their goals. From day one, parents are provided with a variety of communication forms in which we can be in contact with each other. It is my goal that all parents find a communication style that fits their needs.
Class Newsletters
At the end of each week I post an electronic copy of our Monthly Newsletter, as well as sending it home to parents that would prefer a hard copy. This newsletter is a more in-depth look at what we have been working on in the classroom throughout the week, as well as what's to come next week. I am sure to highlight important dates, reminders about homework and projects and discuss the upcoming curriculum for each subject area.
Twitter
I use Twitter so parents can see a sneak peak of what their child is accomplishing on a given day in the classroom. For me, it provides a transparent look at what we're doing during our normal school day. They may see pictures of their child and their classmates, field trips, and more.
Email
If you receive an email from me please do not automatically assume it's because there was an incident. I am a firm believer in communication the positive, as well as any concerns that may need to be addressed! You will hear from me often and openly.
